The World Hates the Disciples

18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’[b] If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. 24 If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’[c]

What is the World?

The Scripture sometimes uses "world" to refer to the earth. But more commonly, it refers all our human-oriented activities: politics, economics, entertainment, education, conflict, and so much more. Everything that we as humans engage in, apart from God, is a part of this world.

 

What is our position – Ephesians 2:1-2 - Made Alive in Christ

2 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

Colossians 1:13 identifies this world as the dominion, or kingdom, of darkness.

13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.

 

 

Ephesians 6:12

 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

 

What is the posture to be in this world as sons of God?

Posture to survive in this world = Focus on Jesus=Read and meditate on the WORD of God=Obey the WORD of God. 

Put on the Full armour of God

Ephesians 6:13 – 20

13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 

14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 

15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 

16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 

17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 

19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 

20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

 

What is the truth? John 17:17 Sanctify them by they truth. This means we should be filled by thy WORD of God.

 

with the breastplate of righteousness in place. Righteousness is when we are in right standing with God. This brings us back to obeying God's WORD. In John 1. 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.

John 14 - The word became flesh. 

 

15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 

Jesus is the prince of peace and our peace. This brings us back to the WORD. 

 

16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. What is Faith? 

How does thy faith come? Faith comes by hearing and hearing Gods word. Romans 10:17

 

17 Take the helmet of salvation - How does salvation come? it comes by preaching the WORD.

 

and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  

 

Ephesians 4:12 - 12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

 

Prayer points

1. Thank you, Lord, for the victories

2. Thank you, Lord, for the body of Christ around me

3. Senses of the spirit (Eyes, ears and sharp discernment) what the world cannot understand

4. Authority for the WORD to be active from my spirit to the WORLD.  Thy words will not return void. Isaiah 55:11
