Psalm 27:14

Wait on the LORD: Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: Wait, I say, on the LORD” 

 

The entire Psalm 27 is a prayer to God for help. It talks s the meaning of waiting on the Lord. David expressed authentic faith and courageous trust in God, based on his confident expectation that God will rescue and save him in his time of trouble.

 

 

Waiting on the Lord involves the confident expectation of a positive result in which we place a great hope.

 

This expectation is based on knowledge of and trust in God. 

 

Those who do not know the Lord will not wait on Him; neither will those who fail to trust Him.

 

We must be confident of who God is and what He is capable of doing. Those who wait on the Lord do not lose heart in their prayers: 

 

1 John 5:14

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us

 

 

*What does it take to Wait*

 

1. Trust and Patience:

Isaiah 40:31

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." This imagery of soaring like eagles serves as a vivid analogy. Just as eagles trust the wind currents to lift them higher, we are called to trust in God's sovereignty and timing, allowing us to rise above our circumstances.

 

2. Surrender:

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

In waiting, we need to assume a posture of humility and obedience, acknowledging that our understanding is limited and God's wisdom is endless .

 

3. Active Waiting: 

Psalm 37:7

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes."  

We must hold on to our faith and integrity, even when others around us seem to see the type of results we want

 

*Prayer Points*:

 

1.  Father, renew my strength everytime I wait on You, trusting in Your timing. That I can soar on eagles wings, run without growing weary, and walk without fainting

 

2. Ask God to grant you the grace to trust in Him with all your heart, without leaning on your own understanding. 

 

3. Father, help me to submit to Your wisdom and guidance, so you can make all my crooked paths straight."

 

4. Father, in times of trials, help me to be still before You. Teach me not to worry over the other people's results but to trust in Your  plans

 

5. Father, as I wait on You, empower me to  seek Your presence through prayer, worship, and the study of Your Word. Let my waiting be filled with actions that draw me closer to You.

 

6. Father, use my period of waiting to refine and grow my faith. That my seed of trust in You germinate and grow into a deeper faith.
