MEDIA
Rationale/Background
More people use Christian media than attend Church. The reshaping of Americans’ lives is
evident in various facets of their life, including the spiritual dimension. A new nationwide survey
conducted by The Barna Group indicates that while 56% of adults attend church services in a
typical month, a much larger percentage is exposed to religious information and experiences
through various forms of media. Radio and television are the most popular Christian media, but
faith-related Internet sites as well as religious magazines, newspapers and books also enjoy
significant exposure. Although these religious media are a supplement to a church experience
for most people, millions of individuals rely upon one or more of these media as their primary
source of spiritual input (http://www.barna.org/).
In response to God’s commands to subdue the earth and to exercise dominion over creation
(Gen. 1:28), man has developed technology. Technology is the use of the knowledge gained by
scientific research for mankind’s practical benefit, bringing portions of the universe under his
control.
Working Vocational Mission Statement (OT Template)
To provide truthful, objective information of importance to the community-at-large so that
citizens can make informed decisions.
Principles
1. Christians must obey a biblically centered world and life view in their understanding,
development, and application of technology (Col. 2:3).
2. There is a single truth, God’s truth, revealed both in his written revelation, the Bible, and in
nature, his created universe (Ps. 19:1-11).
3. God has empowered and commanded man to study, to understand, and to exercise
dominion over his creation (Gen. 1:28; Tit. 1:7).
4. Man is a steward of all of God’s creation and as such is responsible to him for both the
preservation and the productive use of all the world’s resources to the benefit of man and the
glory of God (Gen. 1:28).
5. Jesus Christ alone is the Savior of the world (John 14:6).
6. God is transcendent beyond, immanent in, and sustaining of his creation (Col. 1:15-17; Heb.
1:3).
7. The natural laws and processes now operable in the universe were created by God and are
discoverable by man (Jer. 27:5; Neh. 9:6).

8. Many attributes of God are clearly discernible in the things he has created, so that those who
deny or doubt his existence, his power, or his creation are without excuse
(Rom. 1:18-20).
9. The physical universe of space, time, matter, and energy has not always existed but was
brought into existence by a transcendent, personal Creator God through an act of creation
using special processes not now in operation (Gen. 2:1-3; Heb. 4:4).
Conclusion/Summary
God has commissioned his church to communicate his divine message of love in every language
and culture. His deep desire is that we enter into a relationship where we can daily commune
with him. Today with God given media and technology we can proclaim the whole gospel to
the entire world and also provide an avenue for the nations to interact with the church (his Body)
thereby entering into a phase of daily communion.
