GOD'S THRONE ROOM OF JUDGEMENT

Content:

The Bible lets us know in Hebrews 12:1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. Revelation 12:10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

So, what happens when your case is mentioned before the judgement throne of God? This is an important question to ponder on because what is seen in the physical is orchestrated by the spiritual. Two accounts in the Bible give us an insight to this very important question. The story of Job in Job 1-2 and that of king Ahab in 1 Kings 22:1-40 and 2 Chronicles 18:1-34.

For God to provide an easy passage for us in His throne room, His Wisdom is revealed in I Corinthians 1:30, which says, but of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God — and righteousness and sanctification and redemption. An analogy with the story of king Ahab will be used to explain these three important kingdom truths - righteousness, sanctification and redemption as they relate to God's throne room of judgement.

1. The righteousness, by Christ Jesus, gives us a right standing before God. The analogy of this point in the story of king Ahab is found in 1 Kings 22:20-22

a) Righteousness by the law and by faith.
Romans 3:21-22 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference.

b) Our confession and believe qualify us for Jesus Christ to solicit for us.
Rom 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

c) Jesus Christ is our solicitor - our great high priest.
Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

2. Sanctification process kicks in when Jesus Christ is unable to defend our case. 1 John 1:5-10. The analogy of this point in the story of king Ahab is found in 1 Kings 22:17-24

The Holy Spirit plays a vital role in the process of sanctification, which is the believer's ongoing transformation into the likeness of Christ. Several verses highlight this work, including 1 Corinthians 6:11, where believers are described as being "washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God". Other key verses include 2 Thessalonians 2:13, which speaks of salvation through sanctification by the Spirit, and Romans 8:13, which emphasizes putting to death the deeds of the body by the Spirit.

a) Our conviction of sin by the Holy Spirit sanctifies and positions us for a right standing with God.
John 16:7-11 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

b) The Holy Spirit is there to help us out when there are conflicting signals.
1 John 2:26-27 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

3. Redemption process kicks in when we cooperate with the Holy Spirit. The analogy of this point in the story of king Ahab is found in 1 Kings 22:24-28

a) Be simple minded with the Holy Spirit.
Psalms 119:130 The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.

b) Do not be selective in obeying the Holy Spirit.
2 Timothy 3:16 states that all scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.

c) Do not quench the Holy Spirit.

I Thessalonians 5:19-22 Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.
