HOW TO HEAR GOD'S VOICE

Content:

Today, we will be looking at a very basic, yet most important,

subject: How to Hear God's Voice.
We entered His gates with thanks giving and love
God loves you unconditional
You are extremely important to God
Have you ever wanted to feel closer to God and hear what He's saying to you?
To "draw near to God" means actively pursuing a closer relationship with God through intentional actions like prayer, worship, studying scripture, and living in obedience to His teachings. It's not just a passive wish, but a conscious decision to seek God and experience His presence in your life. God promises to Return this effort, drawing near to those who draw near to Him.
We are going together discover how to connect with Him. We entered in His presence with joy and thankfulness
Through the blood of Jesus
The main idea is that God is always speaking, constantly in many different ways but sometimes we just need to learn how God is speaking to us today.
How to listen!
Psalm 9:1 says that the heavens declare the glory of God and the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
For God does speak—now one way, now another—though man may not perceive it. (Job 33:14 NIV)
Our modern culture loves reason and facts, but the Bible reminds us that God's thoughts are much higher than ours. As Isaiah 55:8-9 says, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."
Our world often focuses on logic and reason, which are good things. But we shouldn't forget other important ways to connect with God, like imagination and insight.
The Lord says He reveals Himself in dreams and visions, As Numbers 12:6 tells us, "When there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams."
We need to learn how God speaks rather than demanding that He speak the way we want Him to.The Bible helps us understand the three types of voices we can hear: our own thoughts, the enemy’s voice, and God’s voice.
 * The enemy’s voice is often negative, destructive, and full of fear.
 * Your own thoughts can be self-centred or worried and argumentative
 * God’s voice is spontaneous but brings a feeling of peace, joy, creativity, and security.
The Bible shows us that God's voice is amazing and can sound so many different ways!
Sometimes, it's a gentle, quiet whisper, like when Elijah heard God in a soft breeze (1 Kings 19:11-13).
Other times, it's incredibly powerful and majestic, sounding like a rushing waterfall or a roaring ocean (Ezekiel 43:2).
And then there are times it's described as a loud voice coming from the middle of a fire, as the Israelites heard at Mount Sinai (Deuteronomy 5:22).
It's clear that God can speak in any way He chooses, from the gentlest sound to the most powerful!
It's always a good idea to test what you hear using scripture and to share it with a trusted spiritual mentor. God’s voice will always align with the Bible and lead you closer to Him.
God will also speak through your own personality, communication style, and vocabulary. He made you unique.
Have you ever asked God about a situation in prayer but were more concerned with hearing the answer you wanted to hear instead of the one He wanted to give?
Often with large purchases, things we covet after, or romantic relationships, we so desperately want to "hear God" say, "YES!" Only afterwards we realise
we only listened for what we wanted to hear.
This principle is called "listening through an idol"
Meaning
We create a place in our heart for an idol (the thing we want more than God's revelation on the topic), and then go to God for revelation, our heart isn't actually postured to receive God's wisdom or Gods will.
This is what the Sovereign LORD says: When any Israelite sets up idols in his heart and puts a wicked stumbling block before his face and then goes to a prophet, l the LORD will answer him myself in keeping with his great idolatry. (Ezekiel 14:4 NIV)
It takes a lot of pride to think our human opinions are better than God’s eternal truths!
Please let’s Examine our hearts together for any idols, pride, arrogance and anything else we know that’s will stop us from hearing God
Let’s pray and ask God to forgive us. Let His will be done in our lives.
Thank you for praying and making right with God
What attracts God's presence?" Humility.
Hearing Gods voice
The issue is where we place our focus. If we fix our eyes on Jesus and only want His will and His answer, He will answer us according to that
Think of this as a fun treasure hunt to find God's voice. A prophet named Habakkuk in the Bible gives us a great map:I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint. Then the Lord replied: 'Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.'" (Habakkuk 2:1-2 NIV)
Quiet Yourself: Habakkuk went to a specific place with the goal of hearing God. We need to do the same! Find a quiet spot and intentionally make space in your heart for God to speak.
Fix Your Eyes on Jesus: our king and High priest Habakkuk said, "I will hear to ..look " He expected God to speak in a vision, which can be like a picture or daydream in your mind. A great way to start is by focusing your thoughts on Jesus, as Hebrews 12:2 says, "fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith."look at the works of God
the cross of JESUS
Feeding the people for 40 years
Open the red see
The healing of Jarvis daughter
The coin in the fish mouth
THE Delivering a man form 2000 demons
And many more miracles GOD did
I am sure you can add and a few miracles that’s God have done for you personally
Romans 10:17, which states, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." This verse highlights the connection between hearing the word of God and developing faith. It suggests that actively listening to and engaging with God's word can lead to a deeper understanding and belief in Him.
Think of it like tuning a radio. Instead of only listening to one station, you're open to different channels.
God might speak to you through a sudden thought that seems to come out of nowhere, a vivid memory, or a Bible verse that just "pops" into your head.
A movie you had watch
This is what "tuning to spontaneity" means: being ready to hear God in unexpected and creative ways.
The phrase "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived" comes from the Bible, specifically 1 Corinthians 2:9,and is often used to describe things that are beyond human comprehension, particularly those related to God's plans and blessings for those who love Him. It emphasises the limitations of human perception and understanding when it comes to divine mysteries.
If you limit how He can speak, you might miss a message meant just for you!
Tune to Spontaneity: Habakkuk also said he would "look to hear what he will say to me." This seems odd, but it reminds us that God's voice often comes as a spontaneous though or image Be ready to hear God however He chooses to speak!
Write It Down: When Habakkuk heard from God, the Lord told him, "Write down the revelation." Writing down what you hear or see is so important! If Habakkuk hadn't done this, we wouldn’t have his story. We will have no records of what God is saying to us
Writing helps us remember and share what God has said.
How to Know If It's God
It’s exciting to hear from God, but how do you know for sure it’s Him? Bind the devil
The Apostle John tells us, "Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world" (1 John 4:1 NIV)
Believe Our Father God is good
Have you ever noticed how a parent's love naturally protects and provides for their child? Jesus used a beautiful example to explain this about God.
In both Matthew 7:9-10 and Luke 11:11-12, Jesus asks, "If your child asks for a loaf of bread, would you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, would you give them a snake?"
The answer is, of course, no! Even though earthly parents aren't perfect, they still have a deep desire to give their children good gifts.
This simple illustration is a powerful reminder that if we, as imperfect parents, know how to give good things to our kids, how much more will our perfect, heavenly Father give good things to us when we ask? It shows that God, as our loving and good Father, will always act in our best interests, providing for us and protecting us when we seek Him.
Here are four ways to test what you hear:
Confirm by Scripture: Everything we hear must line up with the Bible. As the Apostle Paul wrote in Galatians 1:8, "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!" If what you hear doesn't match the Bible, throw it out.
When you feel like you've heard from God about a personal decision, like moving or changing jobs, but the Bible doesn't directly address it, how can you be sure it's really Him?
Since there isn't a specific verse telling you what to do, you can use these two steps to help you confirm His direction.
 * Confirm by the Nature of God
The first thing to do is ask yourself, "Is what I'm hearing consistent with who God is?" God’s wisdom is different from human wisdom. The book of James describes it this way:
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere." (James 3:17)
If the message you've received aligns with these godly attributes—if it's pure, peaceful, merciful, and produces good things—it’s a strong sign that it's from God.
2. Confirm by the Inner Witness
After checking with God's nature, you should also listen to your "inner witness." This is the Holy Spirit's guidance that lives inside you. The Apostle John explains it like this:
"But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him." (1 John 2:27 NKJV)
This "inner witness" is a sense of peace or caution deep in your spirit, not just a feeling in your mind or emotions. It’s like a spiritual green light that gives you a peaceful clearance to move forward, even when it doesn't make perfect sense to your mind.
Confirm by the Nature of God: If the Bible doesn't directly address your situation, ask yourself if the message is consistent with God’s character. James 3:17 describes God's wisdom as "first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere." If the message is full of these good things, it’s likely from God.
by the Inner Witness: The Holy Spirit lives inside us. God will always lead you with peace if you loose peace it not from God
The Holy Spirit gives you an inner "check" or "peace" about things. As 1 John 2:27 (NKJV) says, "But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you... as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is
Confirm by Fruit Inspection: What feelings does the message produce? The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit produces "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control" (Galatians 5:22). If the message you hear makes you feel encouraged and uplifted, it's from God. If it makes you feel condemned, guilty, or fearful, it's not.
Developing a Lifestyle of Listening
Just like anything else, hearing God's voice gets easier with practice! Hebrews 5:14 says, "But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil."
Writing down what you hear from God daily will help you train your spirit to discern His voice. The more you practice, the easier it will become.
It's All About Relationship: God wants to spend time with you, not just give you information. As Exodus 33:11 says, "The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend." He is interested in sharing His heart and hearing yours.
Find Quietness: Psalm 46:10 tells us, "Be still, and know that I am God." God also says that "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength" (Isaiah 30:15). Waiting on the Lord gives you new strength. Isaiah 40:31 promises, "But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."
So, go ahead and be still. Ask the Holy Spirit to come, and simply enjoy being in God's presence. He's excited to connect with you!
This verse, Exodus 33:14, is a beautiful promise from God. He told Moses, "I will go with you, and I will give you rest."
It's a promise that God's presence will be with us, and that brings a special kind of peace and rest. This is a lot like what Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30 is a beautiful invitation from Jesus. He says, "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
In this one verse, Jesus makes two wonderful promises. First, if you're feeling tired and stressed out, all you have to do is come to Him, and He'll give you rest.
Second, He promises that if you let Him lead your life and you learn from Him, you'll find a deep, peaceful rest for your soul. He tells us that His way is easy and His burden is light!
It's amazing that both of these promises lead to rest. Not a to-do list, not a big project, but a quiet, peaceful heart. God's main goal for you is for you to live a life full of rest. This rest isn't just for you—it's also a powerful weapon against anything that tries to steal your peace.
Go and listen to what the Holy Spirit is saying to you, and when you obey, you will receive His rest in His presence
