FOMO and FOLO
Charlie Kirk represented the voice of a Christian’s who stood their ground in faith and love of Jesus.
He epitomised the courageous believer of Christ in the face of the enemy's lies, often debating the modern day Pharisee’s on their own turf.
Charlie Kirk was as fearless as could be against a tsunami of opposition and paid the ultimate price for his convictions.
During a podcast on “ The Iced Coffee Hour”, he was asked how he hoped to be remembered. He responded by saying “ If I die, I want to be remembered for courage for my faith. That would be the most important thing; most important thing is my faith”.
These words were prophetic and he is now remembered for his faith and courage. He feared no man. He only feared God.
In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s death, a seismic shift has been felt in Christians all over the world. There has been a tectonic movement of global proportions in the followers of Christ.
Christian voices are rising up that enough is enough and we are not afraid. We will spread the Gospel. A revolution has started. Praise God.
The thing I loved about Charlie Kirk was his ability to quote political policy ( albeit US) backed by scriptural references. He was one of a kind, though now we see more one of a kinds rising through the ranks.
Could any of us on this platform of MAGH also be that one of a kind?
What would it take?
I think it would take the form of FOMO and FOLO
That is Fear Of Man Obliterated and Fear Of Lord Only
Prayer Point 1.
Father God, we pray that our faith rises above any fear in our lives and our convictions and belief are so rooted in You that we stand strong and fearless. You are our strength and shield and we give thanks and praise IJN.
What Is The Fear Of Man
The fear of man could partly be defined as a fear of how men can actually harm us, though in its proper sense, it is the fear of loss of approval from men.
The fear of man comprises the loss of favour, goodwill, friendship, help or even love.
We can even call the fear of man an idol.
That is an idol of approval from a Christian perspective.
This idol may supplant God’s will in our lives if we allow it.
In this space we avoid things such as backlash for not falling in line or even persecution for following our beliefs.
How many times as men have we followed man’s rules even if they fly in the face of God’s.
This is especially true when we are in the stages of early development of our careers, when we “had” to curry favour with our seniors, managers, bosses or owners.
Even now as mature men, we may stay quiet in the face of unrighteousness in the marketplaces of our lives.
There is a statement I came across that is so pertinent in our lives. “ We often choose to warm ourselves in the fire of acceptance”.
This is a trap though.
Proverbs 29:25
The fear of man brings a snare,
But whoever trusts in the LORD shall be safe.
Fruits Of The Fear Of Man
When we fear man , this silences our witness to Christ and we prevent ourselves from living for His glory alone.
We, instead, please man and not God or His will in our lives.
Galatians 1:10
For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.
The ultimate effect is that we delay or even prevent the destiny that our Holy Father has for our lives. He sees the bigger picture above and beyond all principalities and powers.
What we see as gain through pleasing man can lead to loss of God’s plan for us.
How To Achieve FOMO And FOLO
There are remedies in the bible as in Isaiah
Isaiah 11:1-2
There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse,
And a Branch shall grow out of his roots.
The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him,
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit of counsel and might,
The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.
Jesus lived in the fear of the Lord and honoured only Him.
John 5:41
I do not receive honor from men.
John 5:44
How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?
Jesus was despised by man because of the natural stance He took for God His Father.
It is time now for us to also put on the mantle of Christ in our lives to fulfil the destiny God has planned for us.
There are many passages in the bible that will help with this transformation, so that we will become God pleasers only.
The benefits of fearing God only are eternal in nature, beyond the fleeting wisp of smoke we call our lives.
Isaiah 40:6-8
The voice said, “Cry out!”
And he said, “What shall I cry?”
“All flesh is grass,
And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field.
The grass withers, the flower fades,
Because the breath of the LORD blows upon it;
Surely the people are grass.
The grass withers, the flower fades,
But the word of our God stands forever.”
2 Timothy 7:8
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
We should concentrate on salvations as the time is growing near for the returning of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Scriptures:
2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Psalm 56:11
In God I have put my trust;
I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?
Proverbs 14:27
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life,
To turn one away from the snares of death.
Philippians 4:6-7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let
your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Acts 1:8
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
2 Timothy 4:5
But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
Isaiah 26:3
You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
Deuteronomy 10:12-13
And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the LORD and His statutes which I command you today for your good?
