The Thirst of the Master
John 19:28 - After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!”
Hebrews 4:15 “we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
The Special invite for the Thirsty
John 7:37-39 — “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.”
Revelation 21:6 — “To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.”
Revelation 22:17 — “Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.”
Matthew 5:6 — “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
David’s longing for Water of Bethlehem and the sacrifice of His men
2 Samuel 23:13–17 – “And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam... and David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem… And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water…and brought it to David…”
These were ordinary men with die hard devotion to their King - David, Moved by their love, loyalty, and commitment to his reign..
The Church is familiar with Men of this kind. (Men of like passion)
We knew about them by their acts, convictions and courage in their Pursuit of God. Men like Paul:
Philippians 1:21 – “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
Daniel 1:8 - “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
Daniel 3:16 – “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego replied to the king, “Nebuchadnezzar, we are not in need of an answer to give you concerning this matter If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king.
Acts 15:26- “Men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Reflection and Prayer:
Stand up! stand up for Jesus! Ye soldiers of the cross; Lift high His royal banner, It must not suffer loss: From victory unto victory, His army shall He lead, Till every foe is vanquished
And Christ is Lord indeed.
Ye that are men, now serve Him, against unnumbered foes; Let courage rise with danger.
And strength to strength oppose.
