HE SHALL BE LIKE A TREE.
🌳 HE SHALL BE LIKE A TREE PLANTED BY THE RIVERS OF WATER.
đź“– Psalm 1:3
“He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.”
LESSONS WE CAN LEARN FROM A TREE.
1. GROUNDED AND ROOTED
A tree’s roots grow deep into the ground — unseen, yet vital. Likewise, our spiritual foundation must be deeply rooted in God’s Word and presence. Stability comes from being grounded in truth, not swayed by circumstances. Colossians 2:7
" rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.”
Ephesians 3:17
" that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,"
2. CONNECTED TO THE SOURCE
A tree draws its nourishment from the ground and water. We, too, must stay connected to the living water — Jesus Christ — who sustains and refreshes our souls daily.
John 15:4-5
" Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."
3. BEARING FRUIT, NOT CONSUMING IT
A tree never eats its own fruit. Its fruit is for others — to bless, nourish, and sustain. In the same way, the fruit of our lives — love, kindness, generosity, faithfulness — is meant to bless others.
Galatians 5:22-25
" But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit."
4. GROWING TOWARD THE LIGHT
Trees instinctively reach for the sun. Spiritually, we are called to continually reach for God — the Light of the world — growing in His direction regardless of life’s shadows.
John 8:12
" Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”"
5. STEADFAST AND UNMOVED
A tree remains in its place; it doesn’t wander. Likewise, a believer who is planted in the house of God flourishes. Stability leads to fruitfulness.
Psalm 92:13. “Those who are planted in the house of the LORD Shall flourish in the courts of our God.
1 Corinthians 15:58
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
Ephesians 6:13–14
“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day,
and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore…”
Colossians 1:23
" if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister."
6. PROVIDING SHELTER AND COMFORT
Trees offer shade, rest, and refuge to many. Our lives, too, should bring comfort and encouragement to others, becoming a place of refreshing and peace.
Matthew 5:14 – “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Proverbs 18:10. The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” Psalm 91:1 “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
7. CONSISTENT IN EVERY SEASON
Wherever it is planted, a healthy tree continues to bear fruit in its season. True prosperity is not about changing conditions but about consistent growth and faithfulness wherever God plants us.
 1 Corinthians 15:58
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
Philippians 1:6
“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
Prayer Points:
CONCLUSION
🌱 Jeremiah 17:7-8
" Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,
And whose hope is the LORD.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.”
