WHERE IS GOD?
Psalm 46:1
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
There are moments in life when we quietly ask, “Where is God?”
In pain, disappointment, loss, waiting, or silence, it can feel as though God is distant. The Bible reminds us that God’s presence is not determined by our feelings. He is near even when He seems silent.
Genesis 3
When Adam sinned in the garden, he hid from God — but God came looking for him.
Genesis 39
Joseph. He was betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned. It could have seemed that God had abandoned him. The word of God repeatedly declares, “The Lord was with Joseph”. God was working behind the scenes, preparing him for a purpose greater than he could imagine.
Mark 4
The disciples also questioned God’s presence during the storm on the lake. Jesus appeared to be asleep while the waves threatened to overwhelm them. They cried, “Teacher, don’t You care if we drown?” Jesus rose, calmed the storm, and reminded them to trust Him. His silence did not mean He was absent.
Jesus was in the boat with them.
Mathew 27
And when Jesus hung on the cross and cried, “My God, why have You forsaken Me?”,
He was carrying our separation so we could forever be near to God.
WHERE IS GOD?
He is with you in the valley.
Psalm 23:4
Even though I walk through the valley… You are with me.”
He is near to the brokenhearted.
Psalm 34:18
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
He is working behind the scenes.
Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him…”
He is in you through His Spirit.
1 Corinthians 6:19
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit?”
He has promised never to leave you.
Hebrews 13:5
Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Sometimes God reveals His power by changing our circumstances. Other times, He reveals His faithfulness by sustaining us through them.His Word, the encouragement of others, his peace that keeps us standing.
Faith is not believing because you see, faith is trusting because God has spoken.
ASK YOURSELF
Am I allowing my circumstances to define God’s faithfulness?
Am I seeking God’s presence or simply His answers?
How can I choose trust over fear today?

This devotion was prepared under the leading of the Holy Spirit and was inspired by the eulogy, titled “Where Is God?”, shared by my dear friend Peter after the heartbreaking loss of his beloved son, Tanatswa whose name means “Blessing from God.” have been blessed," "we have been made beautiful," or "a gift has been given to us."
In the midst of unimaginable grief, Peter’s testimony points us not to despair, even in our darkest moments, but to place our hope in the unwavering presence and faithfulness of God. God’s words remind us that even when life brings deep sorrow and we struggle to understand His ways, He remains sovereign, loving, and near to the brokenhearted.
It is my prayer that as you read this devotion, you will be encouraged to seek God not only in seasons of joy but also in the valleys of pain. May the Holy Spirit minister to your heart, strengthen your faith, and remind you that our God is with us through every season of life.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You that You are always present, even when I cannot feel You. Help me to trust Your promises more than my emotions. Strengthen my faith during seasons of waiting and remind me that You are working all things together for good. Open my eyes to see Your hand in my life and give me peace that comes from knowing You are with me. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
