Topic: HOLDING FAST TO YOUR CONFESSIONS

The quality of a lawyer that represents a defendant matters. For example, hiring the service of a QC to present your case in court gives your case a boost, and you have a sense of assurance of victory. Also important is the agreement and consistency of your confessions with that of your advocate before the judge. The devil is the plaintiff here. An advocate for himself. Always busy accusing us before the judgement throne of God. Let's superimpose this judicial description over the following scriptural verses to help us better understand our judgement throne experiences before the almighty God who gives the verdict.
Hebrews 4:14-16
Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, *let us hold fast our confession.* For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us, therefore *come boldly* to the throne of grace so that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 10:19-23
Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. *Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering,* for He who promised is faithful.
Jesus Christ is the advocate you want to represent you before the judgement throne of God. Not saints, mother Mary, nor angels, but Jesus Christ himself. Colossians 2:9-10 shows us that in Christ Jesus dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
Every drama the devil brings is aimed at stealing, killing and destroying your joy, hope, vision, and ultimately, your salvation, which has been your most significant asset since you became a Christian. The secret of overcoming the devil in all these dramas is your ability to hold onto your confession of faith.
I John 5:4 - For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
Some examples of faith confessions amid adversities.
- Though He slays me, yet will I trust Him... Job 13:15
- Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Psalms 23:4
- If that is the case, our God whom we serve can deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up. Daniel 3:17-18
- I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread Psalms 37:25.
- Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19
- The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes, we are healed Is 53:5.
Prayer Points:
Prayers:
1: Let's adore Jesus Christ for being a great and formidable high priest and advocate for us.
2. I don't know what you are going through at the moment. Locate an appropriate "faith confession" and approach the throne of God right now with boldness to obtain mercy and find grace to help.
3. Lord, at the mountain top and in the valley low, help me hold fast to the confession of my faith in you.
4. Lord, help me understand that the release of your grace and mercy to me, even when facing adversities, is your response to our prayers. *And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me. II Corinthians 12:9*
