Proverbs 4:7-9 - “Wisdom is the principal thing. Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you. She will bring you honour, when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace. A crown of glory she will deliver to you.”
Wisdom is a multifaceted concept that involves the ability to apply knowledge, experience, and good judgment to navigate complex life situations and make sound decisions.
James 3:13 - “Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.”
> Action is both the fruit that sprouts from our thoughts and emotions and the seed that nourishes the fruitfulness of our thoughts and feelings.
Behavioural Practices for Growing Wisdom
1. Reading and Learning: Engage in lifelong learning through reading God’s word and books on various topics to broaden your knowledge and perspective.
Proverbs 2:6-7 - “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly.”
2. Seeking Diverse Perspectives: Actively seek out viewpoints different from your own to challenge assumptions and expand your understanding of the word and the world.
Proverbs 18:17 - “The first person to speak always seems right until someone comes and asks the right questions.”
3. Journaling: Reflect regularly on your experiences, thoughts, and emotions through prayers, journaling, allowing you to gain insights into yourself, your surroundings, and God’s plan for your life.
1 Corinthians 8:2 - “And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.”
4. Meditation and Mindfulness: Practice mindfulness and meditation on God’s word to develop inner calm, clarity, and focus, enabling better decision-making and emotional regulation.
