Content:

*1 Kings 17:1* - “*And Elijah the Tishbite*, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.”

*Philippians 3:7-10* - “ But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ.

8 Yet indeed *I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord*, for whom *I have suffered the loss of all things*, and count them as rubbish, *that I may gain Christ*

9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

10 that *I may know Him* and *the power of His resurrection*, and *the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.*

*Trust*. God is asking, “Can we trust you with power? Can we trust you with authority? Can we trust you with influence? What are you willing to let go?”

*What are you will to give up or sacrifice?*
- Let go of comfort
- Let go of pleasure
- Let go of convenience
- Let go of your will and rights
- Let go of all as sacrifice

> God has *given* us all things, however it takes revelation of knowledge of Christ and precise spiritual disciplines to activate them in our lives.

The *fellowship of His suffering* to experience the power of God
1. He learnt obedience through the things he suffered. *Hebrews 5:7-8* - “who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, 8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.”
2. There are *two dimensions of sufferings* as revealed in *Romans 12:1-2*
- Giving up the will
- Death of flesh (…being conformed to His death)

> There is no gift of obedience: Obedience is a discipline!

"Do not be disheartened by obedience” - Ps Josh

Whatever you are holding on to is most precious to you. *Matthew 6:21* - “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

*Matthew 13:44* - “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid,; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”

*Consequence of righteousness*
1. Knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord
2. Power of His resurrection. The power to reverse death. The power Ezekiel experienced in his vision of the valley of dry bones. The power that has dominion over time, space and matter.
3. Fellowship of His sufferings

*Philippians 3:15-16* - Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.”
