14. Becoming Gods battle axe - On Christ the Solid Rock I stand
1. Pre-sermon declarations
        Greetings
Psalms 118:24 : This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalms 95:1: Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Leviticus 6:13 The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out.

2. Introduction
- In this world, we are told trouble will come. Storms of life will come.
- John 16:33 - I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

Despite the storms, God has assurred us that he will fight for us.
This is in the Book of Exodus, Joshua and Joel we are encouraged to be still, courageous and also restoration is inevitable.

- Exodus 14:14
The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

- Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

- Joel 2:25 -
“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten—
the great locust and the young locust,
the other locusts and the locust swarm[a]—
my great army that I sent among you.

- To overcome and win the battles, there are a number of postures as believers we are encourgaed to emulate before the battle and while in the battle. Today, I will discuss examples of postures we are encouraged to emulate or hold on to.

3. Fire scriptures

- Psalms 127
Unless the Lord builds the house,
    the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.
2 In vain you rise early
    and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat—
for he grants sleep to[a] those he loves.

3 Children are a heritage from the Lord,
    offspring a reward from him.
4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
5 Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their opponents in court.

Luke 6: 46 - 49
The Wise and Foolish Builders
46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

Luke 4:46 - 49 (NLT)

Building on a Solid Foundation
46 “So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say? 47 I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. 48 It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. 49 But anyone who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house right on the ground, without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins.”

4. Let us break down Luke 6:46 - 49

5. Why will the floods / troubles come?

- The works of the enemy are to steal, kill and destroy everythinhg of God John 10:10 and 1 Peter 5:8 - 9 we are reminded
To, Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 9 Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers[a] all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are@.

In the Book of the Ephesians we are told why the storms will come.

12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

6. What is the posture to overcome the storms and floods of life and what the enemy throws at us.

1. Psalms 127 - Let the Lord build the house
2. Luke 6: 48 - Dig deep and lay your foundation on solid Rock.
3. Standing firm - Ephesians 6
4. Rely on the holyspirit - John 16:7 and John 16:13

7. We are in a spiritual battle
We are in a spiritual warfare with the enemy at all times. DONOT put your guard down at anytime.

8. The realms of the spirit
a) The realm of God - Realm of eternity (Past, present and Future) His Alpha and Omega.
Revelation 1:8
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Other scriptures to show us God is knows the beginning to the end of everything
Isaiah 46:10, Revelation 22:13, Isaiah 44:6, Isaiah 41:4, Rev 21:6.

b) Realm of angels - Realm of everlasting.
Angels have a beginning but no end. Angels don't die.

c) Realm of men - Realm of time (Man is subject to time- they are trapped in the present)

d) Heavenly places / Realm of Spirits, Celestial realm.
Between the realm of men and angels there i.e Heavenly places. (Ephesian 6:12) - The rulers, authorities and principalities and dark forces are here. The battle happens here.

9. Answering of prayers
a) When we decide to go in prayer God has already answered our prayers by releasing angels.
Daniel 10.
From the first day you set your thougts to pray thy prayers were heard and answered

Isaiah 65:24 Before they call I will answer;
while they are still speaking I will hear.

- I have come because of they words.

10. What is our position?
_ The battle happens in the heavenly places.
- The delays happens here (Daniel 10 - When Daniel went to prayer Angel Gabriel was released and then also angel Michael to back him up).

- and we are reminded to put on the full armour of God to be able to win the battle as we don't wage war using weapons of the world.

- 2 Cor 10:4 - 6
I beg you that when I come I may not have to be as bold as I expect to be toward some people who think that we live by the standards of this world. 3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6 And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.

11. Let us look at the full armour of God and its relation to what it means digging deep and laying a stable foundation so that when the storms come we will still stand.

- Ephesians 6:10 - 18
The Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist,

What is the truth? John 17:17 Sanctify them by they truth. This means we should be filled by thy WORD of God.

with the breastplate of righteousness in place. Righteousness is when we are in right standing with God. This brings us back to obeying God's WORD. In John 1. 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.
John 14 - The word became flesh.

15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
Jesus is the prince of peace and our peace. This brings us back to the WORD.

16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. What is Faith?
How does thy faith come? Faith comes by hearing and hearing Gods word. Romans 10:17

17 Take the helmet of salvation - How does salvation come? it comes by preaching the WORD.

and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Ephesians 4:12 - 12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. John 4:24 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

12. We can see thy WORD of God is important and we ought to be in thy WORD to be in thy Spirit.
- To be in thy WORD we ought to eat it (meditate) on thy WORD before releasing it.

- The word is key Psalms 1:2, Joshua 1:8, Jeremiah 15:16 When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, Lord God Almighty.

Psalm 1
1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
    whatever they do prospers.

4 Not so the wicked!
    They are like chaff
    that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

13. Meditating on the WORD?
- Let your spirit boil with the word like Jeremiah, Joshua
Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

14. Why is it important to overcome a storm
- James 1:2 - 4
 Trials and Temptations
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything
