 THE INNER MAN

As I prepare and asking the Holy Spirit what is His word for his beloved men of God. It profoundly speaks to me through all the devotions that was shared this week here in MAGH and at church as well, it led me to the importance of what or who control the inner man.

I have searched the Hebrew word for inner is Lebab and is defined as below.

Lebab
lay-bawb'
Parts of SpeechNoun Masculine
Lebab Definition
1.      inner man, mind, will, heart, soul, understanding
1.      inner part, midst
1.      midst (of things)
2.      heart (of man)
3.      soul, heart (of man)
4.      mind, knowledge, thinking, reflection, memory
5.      inclination, resolution, determination (of will)
6.      conscience
7.      heart (of moral character)
8.      as seat of appetites
9.      as seat of emotions and passions 1a
2.      as seat of courage

The definition above speaks volumes to me, no wonder that the bible always speaks of guarding our heart and keeping His words in our heart, our inner man.

Technically all of these promises are yes and amen to us as it is written that we receive His Devine power for all things that is needed for life and godliness 2 Peter 1:3. It is because of the power of the cross that He have satisfied the wages and curses of sin, hence He become sin for us and that we may become His righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21) thus qualifying us to receive the Holy Spirit that will empower us to live a life pleasing to God and the victory for His glory.

But I know personally that I struggle to keep focus on Him, I have to make sure that my inner man in not starving with communion with the Holy Spirit and His word, suppose “ if there is two Lion’s in your heart, one in the dark and the other is in the light. As a Christ follower which of the Lion will live? The answer is the one you feed.”

Apostle Paul experience this struggle and explained it in Romans 7, that what he wants to do he can’t do for his flesh defaults in sin and that the Law shows how sinful we are, our inner man is polluted and can’t obey Gods command.

And he continued to Romans 8 that we are freed by Jesus on the cross and he strongly reminded that we are ought not to live by our flesh no more but in the Holy Spirit. We can notice that Apostle Paul reminding the Roman Christians about their identity in Christ, a new mindset and way to live for Christ after they have received Him.

Its clear that Righteousness and all the blessings that comes with it is freely given to us through the cross but to experience and comprehend that you have received it already, holiness is commanded and required.

The Battleground.

Proverbs 4:23 NIV
23Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.

You would think that the enemy is delusional to fight against Gods children but he does not fight against the truth head-on rather in guerilla tactics in the dark to infiltrate our inner man with lies and distortion. The battle ground is our inner man, for the enemy knows that whoever controls your inner man, he can control the direction of your life.

Discipline that we need to strongly consider to make sure that our Inner man is align with God.

1.      Praying in the Spirit

Romans 8:26-27 NIV
26In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

1 Corinthians 14:4
Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves

Praying in the Spirit will edify our Inner man, will make it sharp in hearing Gods promptings and instructions. Prayerlessness dulls discernment and through praying in the Spirit our inner man is being aligned to Him. Receiving downloads from heaven; blueprint, interpretation of dreams, life calling, exposed enemy tactics and a lot more. We are praying about spiritual things so it is wise to pray in the Spirit for He knows the things of the spirit.

Let us pray in the Spirit right now to build our inner man, receiving downloads from heaven, deep revelations of His instructions and plan for us.

Lets pray.

                     2.     Be set apart, observe holiness

2 Peter 1:13-16
13Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

We have commanded to be holy or set apart. We have been anointed with gifts to use for ministry but for us to be effective giving God glory is through a set apart inner man. Look at the church of Ephesus in Revelation 2:1-6 where they did great things in the ministry but failed to feed their inner man with love for their God. Anointed of God like David, Elijah, Samson and Solomon who have did mighty things for God but in the slip of the moment not paying attention that their inner mans is outside the perimeter of holiness they fall.
Psalms NIV 51:10 (Davids prayer after committing adultery)
10Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

May the holy Spirit reveal to us that we are Gods holy people. It is like when you are wearing white cap, white shirt, white coat, white, pants and white shoes. Would not be aware of who is going closer to you, what drink, are they dirty and not just that you will be also conscious where to sit, walk and stand. You are more concern of any dirt or anything that will affect your white attire. So we cannot watch movies even just a small dose of distortion, allow a hint of envy or be evolve in a small hint of dirty talks. Psalms 24 declares that only have. Clean hands, pure hearts and free from idols that can ascent His mountain and dwell His hole place, ushering the Glory to come where darkness flee and even mountain melts away. The genuine potency of our authority in anointing relies on our holiness in the Lord, it activates Gods power that changed lives to be displayed here on earth as it is in heaven for His glory.

Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal to us daily that we are Gods Holy people that we will be discerning of any unclean spirits coming close to us and be convicted when we step out the domain of holiness. In Jesus name. Amen.

3.      Be the living sacrifice and be transformed

Romans 12:1-2
1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

We are beseeched by Apostle Paul to present our bodies as a living sacrifice. A living sacrifice for the sacrifice of blood is already satisfied with one offering in the cross but for us that wants to follow Christ we ought to carry our cross daily. (Luke 9:23) A living sacrifice might crawl out the altar for it is alive not dead, therefore we need to do it daily dead to flesh for these our true worship. Do not follow what the world do or culture but rather renew your minds through meditating Gods word day and night and you will know Gods will. The world is like a lake with a current downstream if you don’t do anything you will be carried by the current, if you do same force as the current you won’t be carried by the current but you will just stay where you are, so if you want to go pass against the current and be at the upstream you have to exceed the force of the current.

Let us pray that Holy Spirit help us in order for us to present our bodies as living sacrifice and will renew our minds for us to have a strong inner man that will know and experience the will of God.

Let’s consistently check status of our Lebab, keeping pure and clean filled of awareness your identity in Christ for His glory.

Ephesians 3:16-19 (NKJV)
16that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
