 GROWING OLD GODS WAY

How far you go in life is not what you have but who you go with.

QUOTES ABOUT AGING
Successful aging means staying happy and content with the phase of life you are living.
Getting old is like climbing a mountain; you get a little out of breath, but the view is much better!"
Wrinkles mean you laughed, gray hair means you cared, and scars tell you lived.”
Cherish all your happy moments: they make a fine cushion for old age.

Aging is said to be a sign of experience
Isaiah 46:4
Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

We are going to go through Psalm 71
As it is written in the NIV study bible the Psalm writer was aging and saw his life as an example to others of all God had done for him and through him
Its a  declaration of our trust and hope in God in various stages of our  life ,birth (verse 6) youth (verses 5, 17), and old age (verses 9, 18)

Psalm 71
1 In you, Lord, I have taken refuge;
 let me never be put to shame.
2 In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me,turn your ear to me and save me.
3 Be my rock of refuge,to which I can always go, give the command to save me,
for you are my rock and my fortress.
4 Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of those who are evil and cruel.
5 For you have been my hope, Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth.
6 From birth I have relied on you, you brought me forth from my mother’s womb.
I will ever praise you.
7 I have become a sign to many, you are my strong refuge.
8 My mouth is filled with your praise,
declaring your splendor all day long.
9 Do not cast me away when I am old;
do not forsake me when my strength is gone.
10 For my enemies speak against me;
 those who wait to kill me conspiretogether.
11 They say, “God has forsaken him,
pursue him and seize him,
for no one will rescue him.”
12 Do not be far from me, my God;
come quickly, God, to help me.
13 May my accusers perish in shame;
may those who want to harm me
be covered with scorn and disgrace.
14 As for me, I will always have hope;
 I will praise you more and more.
15 My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds,of your saving acts all day longщ۬ though I know not how to relate them all.
16 I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign Lord, I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone.
17 Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.
18 Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.

(Remembering our lifetimes of blessings from God will help us to see the consistency of his Grace throughout the years to trust him for the future)

19 Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens, you who have done great things.
Who is like you, God?
20 Though you have made me see troubles,
many and bitter, you will restore my life again, from the depths of the earth
 you will again bring me up.
21 You will increase my honor and comfort me once more.
22 I will praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, my God, I will sing praise to you with the lyre, Holy One of Israel.
23 My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you, I whom you have delivered.
24 My tongue will tell of your righteous acts all day long, for those who wanted to harm me have been put to shame and confusion.

AS YOU GROW OLD SEE PURPOSE IN YOUR PAST
Life is made of habits-good or bad

We all have a past,a past that is presently living and active — shaping the way we think, believe, and act. How we remember our life determines not only the way we relate to ourselves and others, but more importantly, how we relate to God.

God has a plan for great purpose and a beautiful future for all who believe in Him. Lord, help us find the courage and the desire to share what You have done in our life. Turn our past into our purpose and refuse to let our pain be for nothing.

AS WE GROW OLD KEEP ON TRUSTING WHEN ITS EASY AND WHEN ITS NOT.
Those who age well have developed a lifestyle of trust
know who God is, know God's heart and intentions for you, surrender your control over the outcome, have patience.
The blessings of trusting God with your life will be so fruitful.

AS WE GROW OLD KEEP ON PRAISING, WEATHER DARK OR BRIGHT
The word praise is mentioned five times in Psalm 71 ,are we praising God the older we become.  God is not glorified by gloom.
Praise lifts your spirit.
Praise helps you sense God’s presence.
Praise enlarges your perception of God.
Praise reveals solutions we can’t see.
Praise breaks chains and opens doors.
