 Praying For a God Encounter.

Let us rejoice in the Lord, for He is the miracle maker, the creator of the universe, the creator of you and me.

Let us proclaim the name of Jesus Christ, His only son, the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Let us give thanks to the Holy Spirit, the one who guides us and comforts us. The one who resides within and imparts Divine messages from above.

Let us give thanks and praise to the Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Spirit. The divine triune who are at all times, each second of each day, ready to be at our side, listening to us, guiding us and speaking to us.

What an honour to be called God’s children.

What does an encounter with God mean?

For me as with you all, it is very personal and unique. It is way to deepen and solidify our relationship with Him

This happens now with greater frequency as I have been continually pruned and shed much flesh and listen intently for His voice.

I expect from each of us on this platform that this is a common theme.

Each of us will have our own encounters with God and can take form in so many ways.

We could only wish for an encounter such that when Jesus took Peter, James and John high on a mountain to witness His transfiguration.

Matthew 17:5
While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!”

Imagine that in your lives today!

For me, it is more of a notion and not a booming voice from the sky and at this point in my spiritual life, I am assured it is my Heavenly Father, because this is How He speaks to me.

I love being a sheep for my Lord and Saviour, for in that space I can hear Him and He leads me faithfully.
I rarely have to think about anything, just follow His voice.

It takes all the pressure of me to find a way in the flesh.

How can we encounter God with greater frequency?

     Pray daily

Make prayer part of your daily life so we may communicate with God, give Him praise, seek guidance and unburden your concerns.

Colossians 4:2-3
Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;

1 thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

     Study the Word

Spending time reading and meditating on God’s word will fill us with wisdom and encouragement and will provide a guide for us in making decisions.

2 Timothy 3:16-18
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Colossians 3:16
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

     Practice kindness

By showing love and kindness to others, we shine God’s light on them.

Proverbs 16:24
Pleasant words are like a honeycomb,
Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.

Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

     Promote fellowship

Church attendance, connect cells and general Bible studies will help to encourage each other in our spiritual journeys.

Hebrews 10:24-25
And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

1 John 1:7
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

     Seek forgiveness

When we sin, immediately repent and turn from it. Gid is patient and His grace and mercy is always sufficient for us.

Psalm 32:5
I acknowledged my sin to You,
And my iniquity I have not hidden.
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,”
And You forgave the iniquity of my sin.

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

     Serve others

There is nothing like demonstrating God’s love as being of service of others such as volunteering in the community.

1 Peter 4:10
As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

Hebrews 13:16
But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

     Attitude of gratitude

Cultivating gratitude even for the small, positive things will allow us to constantly see God’s blessings in our lives.

Psalm 107:1
Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.

Psalm 103:2-5
Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

     Trust in God

In all things and at all times trust in God’s goodness for our lives. He is always working for us day and night.

Romans 15:13
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 118:8-9
It is better to trust in the LORD
Than to put confidence in man.
It is better to trust in the LORD
Than to put confidence in princes.
