Topic: Encounter that transforms the Mind
Judges 6 & 7

1. LIFE BEFORE A DIVINE ENCOUNTER
Judges 6: 1-6
The Israelites turned their mind against God. God delivered them to the hand of the Midianites.

Judges 6: 7-10
God answered the prayers of the Israelites by sending a prophet to them to work on their minds – making them to focus on the wonder working power of God that has been experienced in time past. Reminding them that God is a deliverer.

2. A DIVINE ENCOUNTER REVEALS YOUR TRUE IDENTITY
Judges 6: 11-16
Gideon was held bound by victim mentality. The angel did not respond to the question Gideon asked but spoke about the identity of Gideon.

Vs 14 & 16:
14 Then the Lord turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?”

6 And the Lord said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.”

Gideon had several encounters that made him to become an individual that would take bold steps and go against the popular opinion – Only following God’s instruction no matter how seemingly difficult /senseless it presents.

Prayer: Father Lord, let me have a divine encounter that will sustain me through the journey of my destiny.

3. YOU CAN NEVER REMAIN THE SAME AFTER A DIVINE ENCOUNTER
Judges 7: 7 & 12
Gideon was so sure about God that he followed his instructions without any iota of doubt.
In human reasoning, three hundred people can not fight against the multitude described in vs 12. This is only possible with divine intervention.

Prayer: God Tell me what to do and show me how to go about it.

4. ONE OF THE WAYS TO EXPERIENCE AN ENCOUNTER IS CONSISTENCY
Gideon must have been a man with the right attitude because he never knew he was speaking to an angel. Despite the situation going on around him, he was still exuding the right attitude. We should always ensure to exude the fruit of the spirit as found in
Galatians 5: 22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

We should move by faith and not by sight!! Ensuring we are in tune with the Holy spirit at all times.

Prayer: Father, give me the grace to always listen to the Holy Spirit.
